WHAT WE BELIEVE
Core Beliefs
North Routt Community Church is a non-denominational church composed of people from many different backgrounds, but united around the following core beliefs:
Scripture
We believe that the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are verbally inspired by God, without error in the original writings, and the supreme authority by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is totally trustworthy and true, and it is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
God
We believe there is only one true God who is eternal, sovereign, all-powerful, all-knowing, just, and loving. We believe that He purposefully created the world and is personally engaged in the lives of human beings. He exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Man
We believe that God created mankind in His own image for His own glory. Although He loves us and desires a personal relationship with us, we have all sinned against Him. Thus, His image has become distorted in us, and we are separated from Him and deserving of His judgment. Only through His mercy and forgiveness can we be redeemed and reconciled to Him.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and is God's only provision for man's sin. Being born of a virgin, He became fully human while surrendering nothing of His deity. He lived a perfectly sinless life, and He satisfied the Father's justice concerning sin by dying on the cross in our place and paying the penalty for sin with His own blood. He rose from the dead on the third day, and He ascended into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God the Father. He promised that He will return one day to judge all of mankind.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God given to man by grace alone and received by faith alone in the person and work of Jesus Christ. It manifests itself in repentance over sin, living and abiding trust in Jesus, and a desire to live in accordance with His commands. The redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever.
